Massachusetts, USA, 20 October 2023: Illinois Tool Works Inc sites in Newburyport, MA and Bloomfield, CT (known as ITW ShineMark) have received Silver Medal sustainability ratings from business sustainability ratings leader EcoVadis, landing in the top 25% of all companies assessed. The review of the US production facilities spanned 'Environment,’ ‘Labor and Human Rights,’ ‘Ethics,’ and ‘Sustainable Procurement’.
The high site ratings reflect ITW ShineMark’s commitment to continuous improvement in clean manufacturing, responsible procurement, safety, and ethical business practices as well as a renewed focus on communicating corporate responsibility. VP and General Manager Barry Dauber shares that, “We have an obligation to our customers, stakeholders, partners, and industry peers to provide credibility and clarity around our sustainable products and practices. Sustainability is absolutely at the top of our priorities, as we collaborate with customers, develop innovative solutions, and advocate for responsible use and labeling. ITW’s Sustainability team found the EcoVadis Scorecard to be a useful addition to their efforts. The process clearly outlined strengths in various categories including energy consumption, emissions, raw materials, natural resources, and waste management; as well as safe, fair and ethical practices. Additionally, it outlined improvement areas. Global Operations Director David Brophy pointed out, “The EcoVadis scorecard recognizes where we are successful, but also helps us map out future priorities in our environmental management system and overall policies.”
